Zyxel switches' specialized Networked AV mode
Zyxel Networks has announced its partnership with audiovisual solutions provider ATEN. The agreement will allow Zyxel to integrate the new Networked AV functionality into its switches, simplifying them and improving their efficiency.
More and more AV systems are migrating from matrix switch infrastructure to IP-based technology, which is becoming the new standard for an industry adapting to the growing diversity of AV-over-IP applications. This transition offers greater scalability, longer distances, less cabling, and easier installation. However, for many companies, it remains a challenging path due to their lack of familiarity with switch network configurations.
Zyxel Networks has partnered with ATEN, a provider of AV/IT connectivity and management solutions. This alliance ensures integrated network system design, delivering a reliable and interoperable AV-over-IP solution.
To expand the broad reach of networked applications, Networked AV mode has been designed to include a custom setup wizard that handles key functions when using streaming services. In addition, the Networked AV control panel has been redesigned to display more useful information, including ports, system and bandwidth, and power usage. This allows users to view the current network status for easy switch maintenance and configuration.
“Poor network configuration poses a challenge to the transition to AV over IP, impacting the user's viewing experience, and resolving it requires substantial effort. Zyxel's tailored Networked AV mode aims to overcome these challenges and provide an easy and stable network solution for schools, hospitality venues, or video wall control panels,” explains Gonzalo Echeverría, country manager of Zyxel Spain. “Through our partnership with ATEN specialists, we offer the channel a robust and comprehensive solution that addresses the challenges of delivering AV over IP services.”.
“ATEN is a professional AV and IT solutions provider with outstanding integration expertise,” said Nicholas Lin, senior vice president of global research and development and marketing at ATEN. “Together with Zyxel, a provider of professional Ethernet switches with deep expertise in IP multicasting for diverse applications, we can deliver a high-quality, high-definition audio and video experience with a professional approach to minimize the effort required for integration.”.
The Networked AV solution is available on the Layer 2 GbE-managed GD2220 series switches with firmware update v4.70, released in September. It will also be available on the XGS2210 series by the end of 2020.
