The range has two models:
• D-Link DSS-100E-9P. 9 Fast Ethernet ports 10/100 PoE (Long Range PoE), 1p Gigabit, PoE Budget 92W (PoE+, up to 30W per port)
• D-Link DSS-100E-18P. 16 Fast Ethernet 10/100 PoE ports (Long Range PoE 250m, 230W PoE Budget, PoE+ up to 30W per port), 1p Gigabit, 1p Gigabit SFP Combo
The DSS-100E-9P can detect when long-range support is needed and automatically activate extended mode without any manual configuration. Its larger sibling, the DSS-100E-18P, features a DIP switch to select this Long Range PoE function.
The DSS-100E series offers Gigabit gateway ports, allowing connection to a backbone network or recording servers at Gigabit Ethernet speeds. Additionally, the DSS-100E-18P model also features an SFP combo port to provide the added flexibility for connecting over longer distances via fiber optics.
The DSS-100E series also offers 6 kV surge protection on all ports and the power supply, improving the safety and reliability of the switch, as well as all connected devices, which is essential in video surveillance installations where cameras in outdoor areas are exposed to the weather and can therefore cause short circuits.
Both switches automatically detect and connect to cameras, eliminating the need for network management and simplifying installation. For installations with IP cameras already connected to a new or existing server or NVR, the DSS-100E-18P features an "isolation" mode that enables only the switch ports where the video server will be connected, thus enhancing security.
These D-Link switches designed for professional video surveillance are now available for sale in specialist stores and authorized D-Link distributors with a recommended retail price of €83 for the DSS-100E-9P and €160 for the DSS-100E-18P.
