As service providers densify their networks with more fiber, duct space will be a precious commodity. In this regard, STL's high-density microcable will help operators pack more capacity into limited duct space. Jitendra Balakrishnan, Director of Optical Network Technology at STL, highlighted the need for this product: "If it's a problem for end customers, operators, or installers, it's a problem worth solving for us. This announcement follows a series of product innovations by STL. The company recently developed India's first multi-core fiber with 4X capacity. STL was the first company to launch Stellar™, a bend-insensitive A2 optical fiber with full backward compatibility, and one of the first two companies in the world to introduce Intelligently Bonded Ribbon (IBR) cable technology to mainstream networks.
In addition to 180-micron fiber and microcable, STL is also introducing other innovations. STL's pre-terminated optical connectivity kits, OPTO-BLAZE and OPTO-BOLT, feature plug-and-play functionality for faster and easier installation, and their OPTO-DOP is another unique design that eliminates the need to supply traditional cable reels at drop locations.
