MFT - Multi-Fiber Tracer.
The MFT is a 1550 nm (MTP) co-output laser source with twelve fibers. It is designed with 12 discrete laser sources (1550 nm single-mode) connected to an MTP fan-out connector. It is packaged in a lightweight and rugged housing. Its one-button operation is designed to quickly send laser light with embedded fiber ID signals across the network to an MFI (Multi-Fiber Identifier) and/or MFP (Multi-Fiber Power Meter) to provide automatic fiber identification.
MFI - Multi-Fiber Identifier.
The MFI is designed to detect the presence of digitally encoded laser light in the fiber optic network under test. The unit is activated by inserting the fiber under test into the clamp and pressing the trigger, located on the bottom of the MFI. The LCD screen displays the fiber's identification number.
The MFI detects bursts of digitally encoded data transmitted by the MFT when the MFI is attached to the fiber under test.
MFP - Multi-Fiber Power Meter.
The MFP is designed to detect the presence of digitally encoded laser light emitted from the MFT while in Fiber ID mode. It is also designed for use as a regular power meter.
