With LiveLight™, the NetXpert XG-PLUS enables a new feature unique among fiber optic network test equipment: real-time measurement of optical losses in a fiber optic network. The measurement result is displayed on the X/Y axis, with the Y-axis showing the power delivered to the receiver and the Y-axis showing the elapsed test time.
Any variation in received signal strength is reflected in the graph on the receiver's display. This allows the user to trace the connections and splices along the fiber under test, pinpointing the problematic connection and repairing the fault by replacing the faulty connector or another component of the link.
As with all measurements and checks performed with NetXpert, the result obtained from the measurement of received power over time can be recorded in a document as a certificate to report the status of that link.
These types of documents constitute conclusive proof of the state of an installation and are very useful to demonstrate that a network is in perfect working order, or on the contrary, has permanent or even intermittent faults.
