The new media converters, developed under the premise of “maximum performance in minimum space,” incorporate technical features such as an LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) selector, a fiber speed selector (100 Mbps / 1 Gbps), and a universal SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) slot. The
LFP selector
, thanks to its micro-switch, allows you to decide whether the optical link loss propagates to the copper port (and vice versa). This way, even with the media converters inserted in the link, the system behaves as if it were a direct connection.
The LFP selector simplifies diagnostics and fault detection along the entire length of the link and adds flexibility to optical testing (without generating unnecessary alarms) as it can be deactivated depending on the installation.
Fiber Speed Selector:
The 100M/1G selector allows you to lock the fiber speed when the remote equipment does not support auto-negotiation or when greater distances are required over multimode.
This selector provides universal compatibility with Ethernet equipment of different generations and helps double the typical distance without migrating to single-mode: up to 2 km over OM3/OM2 at 100M.
This feature is particularly useful if you need to maintain existing OM2 fiber when migrating from analog to IP cameras, allowing you to cover long distances without changing the fiber.
Universal SFP Slot:
The SFP slot is hot-swappable and accepts standard 100M or 1G MSA modules. This allows you to choose the most suitable optic for each project.
Therefore, a single media converter covers multiple application scenarios, with the flexibility to switch from multimode to single-mode by replacing the SFP and the added benefit of easy maintenance.
With local support from Grupo COFITEL, the new range of media converters, which further expands ADILEC by Guilera's industrial switching offering, will be available soon.
