Following this agreement, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, through Red.es, and the technology company will promote the search for synergies and avenues of collaboration with their programs and initiatives.

In the words of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo: “Public administrations and companies must continue to join forces to transform society and the economy. Being more innovative and competitive as a country depends on the degree of progress in public-private collaboration and the search for synergies.” The Secretary of State also emphasized “the impetus that Cisco provides in two areas: support for training and entrepreneurship; as well as the development of new applications and the creation of companies in the Smart Cities sector.”

For his part, José Manuel Petisco, General Manager of Cisco Spain, stated that “the digitalization of Spanish companies and public administrations can improve the country's global competitiveness, foster new economic activities with the consequent generation of wealth and employment, and improve the quality of life for citizens. But to succeed in the digital transformation, it is necessary to strengthen public-private collaboration, and the agreement signed today constitutes a fundamental step in this direction.”

In this way, Cisco demonstrates its interest in participating in Spain Open Future, one of the initiatives promoted by Red.es in conjunction with another major corporation, Telefónica. The program consists of an open, non-profit platform available to entrepreneurs that includes methodologies and tools for developing technological and management talent, as well as facilitating contact with investors and the business world to accelerate projects.

Program Development:
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism contributes to the development of the digital economy through initiatives such as the recently launched Smart Cities Plan, business digitalization support programs to promote online sales and the adoption of cloud solutions, support for the migration and development of cloud solutions, improved wireless connectivity in the hotel sector, the revitalization of ICT Demonstration Centers, support for entrepreneurial initiatives, and training programs in the digital economy.

Furthermore, it is committed to supporting the internationalization of companies and facilitating their international visibility through initiatives such as the Spain Tech Center (STC) in San Francisco, which it promotes in collaboration with ICEX and Banco Santander; technology missions, which it organizes in collaboration with ICEX and Digital Economy Associations; and the organization of events that highlight the digital economy, such as FICOD and Ciber Camp, as well as the organization of the Spanish pavilion at the Mobile World Congress.
