The meeting was attended by 36 professionals (28 in person and eight via videoconference) representing 20 of the leading Spanish audiovisual integration companies.
Audiovisual integration companies provide qualified services that guarantee professional results for clients, maximizing the efficiency and productivity of audiovisual installations. They possess in-depth knowledge of AV systems to deliver customized solutions tailored to their clients' needs.
The meeting addressed the problem of the shortage of qualified professionals in the industry and how AVIXA can contribute to professionalizing the sector. In this regard, Yoav Slimobich, AVIXA's account director for Spain and Portugal, reported on the workshops the association has been conducting at various Spanish universities and technical schools to help students learn about the opportunities and potential of the audiovisual sector.
Slimobich also informed those present about the CTS® (Certified Technology Specialist) certification preparation course – recognized worldwide as the leading credential for audiovisual professionals – which the association has recently conducted in Spain with the support of Maverick AV Solutions, NEC and Vision, as well as AVIXA's participation in various events such as AFIAL Ibérico and Fluge Understanding, and in forums of the Official College of Graduates and Technical Engineers of Telecommunications, the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia, etc.
The meeting also served to raise awareness about the problem of unqualified individuals working in the sector, particularly those from outside the industry who carry out their work without experience or professional training. In this regard, various ways to enhance the value of integration companies compared to those that are not were discussed, as well as the potential role of telecommunications professional associations in defining a set of regulations and standards required for working on audiovisual integration projects.
In that regard, Slimobich informed attendees that AVIXA's plan for 2020 includes events and collaboration agreements with the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and with the State Council of Telecommunications Students (CEET).
The companies also expressed great enthusiasm for the ISE trade fair taking place in Barcelona starting in 2021 and indicated their interest in having a prominent presence at the next edition of the event through a dedicated area for audiovisual experiences.
At the meeting, the members of AVIXA's AV integration companies advisory committee established an action plan that includes the creation of various working groups and the scheduling of further meetings to advance different initiatives aimed at strengthening their position within the industry and contributing to greater professionalization of the sector.
