The new report, Global LTE Network Forecasts and Assumptions – One Year On, predicts that by 2015, 38 different spectrum frequency combinations will be used in LTE deployments. This fragmented landscape is fueled by ongoing spectrum auctions, license renewals, and reorganization efforts across a wide range of frequency bands. The lack of spectrum harmonization poses a key challenge to the emerging LTE ecosystem, potentially preventing vendors from delivering globally compatible LTE products, such as devices and chipsets, or forcing them to raise prices.
