Corning will increase its optical connectivity manufacturing capacity in the United States tenfold and expand its fiber optic production capacity in the country by more than 50% to meet the growing demand driven by the construction of AI factories. The expansion includes the construction of three new advanced manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas, as well as the creation of more than 3,000 new high-paying American jobs. Corning's expanded capacity will supply hyperscale data centers with the optical connectivity they use to deploy NVIDIA-accelerated computing at scale.

Modern AI workloads require thousands of NVIDIA GPUs, demanding unprecedented volumes of high-performance optical fiber, connectivity, and photonics to move data at extraordinary speed and scale. As AI factories grow and multiply, optical connectivity becomes a critical component of AI infrastructure. Corning, inventor of low-loss optical fiber and a global leader in innovation in glass science and optical physics, is well-positioned to meet this demand at scale.

"AI is driving the greatest infrastructure expansion of our time, and a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalize American manufacturing and supply chains," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

"Together with Corning, we are inventing the future of computing with advanced optical technologies, laying the foundation for an AI infrastructure where intelligence moves at the speed of light, while advancing the proud tradition of 'Made in America'"

"What NVIDIA is doing is simply extraordinary, not only for the future of artificial intelligence, but also for the American workforce in the advanced manufacturing sector," said Wendell P. Weeks, chairman of the board, CEO and president of Corning.

"Their commitment is directly driving the expansion of our manufacturing presence in the U.S. and creating more than 3,000 new, well-paying jobs for American workers. This collaboration proves that AI isn't just a technology story. It's a manufacturing story, and it's happening right here in America. Together with NVIDIA, we're ensuring that the critical technologies powering AI are invented, designed, and built in the United States.".
