Since its debut, the "digital home heart" concept behind the FRITZ!Box has been a resounding success. Routers from this brand are available in over 40 countries and are market leaders in countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Before the FRITZ!Box was launched, its manufacturer, AVM, had already established a reputation in the industry by producing connectivity cards, starting in 1986. The next logical step was the development of a router, which would be named "FRITZ" in honor of the company's Berlin origins.

Over two decades, AVM has developed approximately 90 models entirely in Europe and produced more than 60 million devices. From its beginnings with DSL connections up to 8 Mbps, the FRITZ!Box has continuously evolved and now supports fiber optic connections up to 10 Gbps. The range has also established itself as an all-in-one home digital hub, thanks to a combination of innovative hardware and software, easy installation, free updates, and an intuitive user interface.

Similarly, the FRITZ!Box's continued success has been fueled by a commitment to providing convenience and security through innovative features such as firewalls, VPN, parental controls, and automatic updates that promote product longevity, as well as energy-saving options. The FRITZ! family has expanded to include wireless repeaters, powerline adapters, phones, radiator controllers, smart plugs, and LED lights, making digital life easier for millions of people every day.

In Spain since 2016, due to the free choice of router

AVM officially launched in Spain in 2016, although some early adopters had already found ways to get their hands on one of its popular routers. Currently, the German company has half a dozen wholesalers and sub-wholesalers in the country, and FRITZ!Box products are available in hundreds of stores and distributors. AVM also regularly participates in industry events such as Mobile World Congress.

Since arriving in Spain, AVM has become a leading advocate for users' freedom to choose their router, a right already enjoyed by consumers in countries like Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, and Greece. The company argues that internet service providers should allow users to choose their router, rather than the hardware they provide, which often lacks the latest wireless networking innovations such as Wi-Fi 6 or Mesh.

“For two decades, the FRITZ!Box has tirelessly set new standards as the heart of the digital home. The success of the FRITZ!Box is based not only on its technology but also on AVM’s first-class in-house support. Product advice, support, and service on the AVM website ensure that every customer quickly receives the help they need.” highlights Ralf Muntean, Country Manager of AVM in Spain.
