“Avago has a long track record of setting new benchmarks in IP performance for embedded SerDes, which is closely tied to our unmatched ability to deliver working silicon on the first try,” said Frank Ostojic, vice president and general manager of Avago’s ASIC Products Division. “We are already working with leading customers on products that will bring these revolutionary 28 Gbps capabilities to the wired communications market.”
Avago’s SerDes cores can be easily integrated thanks to their modular architecture for multiple transmission speeds. Avago can integrate more than 200 SerDes channels or more than 190 million gates into a single ASIC, while the number of FETs typically exceeds 4 billion. The SerDes cores offer unique decision feedback equalization (DFE) that results in lower power consumption. Other features that set it apart are the best latency time in its category, and its immunity to noise, jitter, and crosstalk.

How does coherent optics increase data speed? - Modulation and polarization multiply the data capacity in optical networks.
In the early days of optical networks, all optical signals relied on a simple mechanism known as on-off keying (OOK). Simply put, this mechanism works by turning a light on and off to transmit data. OOK is a broader term used to describe...
