Telindus carries out a pioneering Fiber to the Home FTTH deployment in Europe for Andorra Telecom
• Aggregation and transport network. A network solution based on Cisco equipment has been deployed, with an architecture that provides Andorra Telecom with the following main benefits: great flexibility in accommodating services (current and future); reliability and availability thanks to a robust architectural design with multiple redundancy and protection mechanisms; security for data and equipment; scalability and modularity, with the capacity to grow in both performance and locations; ease of management and operation; TCO and investment protection.
• Access network. Based on FTTH equipment from the manufacturer Enablence and E-PON technology, considered optimal for this project due to its technological maturity, the excess bandwidth provided, density, and cost. Thanks to the technologies used, the access network integrates seamlessly with the transport network and covers the current and future needs of Andorra Telecom, enabling orderly and cost-sustainable network growth.
• IP TV Headend. This infrastructure will allow Andorra Telecom to deploy its TV service over an FTTH network, as it includes all the necessary functional elements to offer value-added services based on digital television, from content aggregation or generation from various sources to final reception in the user's home. The distinguishing feature of the Telindus solution lies in its design not as an isolated entity within Andorra Telecom's business systems, but as a complementary part of the company's other services. The solution from manufacturer Harmonic provides the digital headend and IP encapsulation.
The services offered by the fiber optic network, currently available to 100% of homes, businesses and institutions in Andorra, have already been contracted by more than 10,000 customers.

How does coherent optics increase data speed? - Modulation and polarization multiply the data capacity in optical networks.
In the early days of optical networks, all optical signals relied on a simple mechanism known as on-off keying (OOK). Simply put, this mechanism works by turning a light on and off to transmit data. OOK is a broader term used to describe...
