Increasingly, telecommunications infrastructures need to be robust and powerful, designed to last for a long time and capable of supporting current and future technological applications. This requires high bandwidth, where reliability and quality of data exchange are guaranteed. The TereScope® 10GE is capable of meeting, and even exceeding, all these increasingly essential requirements.
This latest device developed by MRV continues the legacy that has allowed the manufacturer to be a market leader in Free Space Optics (FSO) thanks to its innovative, patented optical technology. Like its lower-speed predecessors, the TereScope® 10GE offers Ethernet and Fibre Channel connectivity, but at speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
The narrow beam of light emitted by the TereScope® 10GE's optical head provides the same security as a traditional wired fiber connection, as the signal is impossible to intercept, and has a range of up to 850 meters under normal conditions. The TereScope® 10GE can be connected to any point-to-point RF link to achieve link redundancy and provide 99.999% availability in the event of a temporary loss of line of sight.
This system received the “Best of Interop 2008” award in the Wireless and Mobility category at the event held in Las Vegas, where the best technological products in each category are recognized every year.
