They function as collaborative platforms or ecosystems that bring together businesses, researchers, public administrations, and citizens. They have become a strategic element for European competitiveness and for the development of business models based on collaborative innovation.

In this context, the BCSSD (Basque Cyber Security Shared Data) and CIBERDATA projects currently benefit from the collaboration of a broad Basque business and technology consortium. Their objective: to guarantee the digital sovereignty of the Basque Country, optimize the competitiveness of industry, and position the region at the forefront of the data economy at the European level. Thus, the BCSSD project, funded by the Basque Government through the HAZITEK 2023 program and the European Union (ERDF 2021-2027), has the strategic objective of increasing the cybersecurity level of the business sector through research into technologies that enable the construction of a decentralized, reliable, and secure data space, in which organizations within the Basque industrial ecosystem share cybersecurity data. Key results of the project, which concludes in December 2025, include:

Creating a secure community for sharing information about IT and OT cyber threats.

Research and validation of automation technologies for the analysis of cyber threats and industrial malware.

Development of advanced cyber-intelligence services using enriched data.

The project, whose solutions have been validated in controlled real-world environments, has been led by Perseus Cybersecurity and includes the participation of CodeSyntax, Jakincode, Secure&IT, Teknei, AEG Power Solutions Ibérica, and Fagor Arrasate, with support from the Basque Science and Technology Network through the Tecnalia Research & Innovation Foundation, the GAIA Cluster, Ikerlan, and Koniker. CIBERDATA: a data demonstration center for the cybersecurity sector. CIBERDATA, promoted by the GAIA Cluster and funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, is a data space demonstration center for the cybersecurity sector, designed to accelerate the advanced digitalization of the territory through the responsible, secure, and sovereign use of data.

A data demonstration center is a technological infrastructure that simulates a real-world data environment focused on cybersecurity, based on European standards such as GAIA-X or IDS. It allows organizations to test new technologies and use cases without having to invest in their own infrastructure beforehand. Furthermore, it facilitates the secure exchange of information between entities that, for security or regulatory reasons, would not normally be able to share it.

This infrastructure is key to promoting collaboration and innovation in the cybersecurity sector. In a context marked by the exponential growth of connected devices and with a focus on the secure and responsible use of data, CIBERDATA will provide, starting in April 2026: Cybersecurity data access infrastructure; consulting for the development of use cases; an open-source repository and marketplaces for tools and data; and training, certification, and talent management services. All of this aims to drive advanced solutions for processing, analyzing, and leveraging cybersecurity data, fostering a collaborative environment among companies, technology centers, and public administrations.
