As part of its commitment to long-term product support, the new FRITZ!OS 7.50 operating system will be gradually made available for all current models of FRITZ!Box routers, FRITZ!Repeater repeaters and FRITZ!Powerline PLC adapters, as well as for all mobile applications that make up the FRITZ!Apps ecosystem.

Improved performance in Wi-Fi Mesh networks

Thanks to the addition of dynamic Smart Repeating functionality, FRITZ!OS 7.50 delivers enhanced performance for Wi-Fi Mesh networks created with FRITZ! products. Users employing a FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Box as a mesh repeater benefit from faster data transmission speeds and improved Wi-Fi connection stability. With the new version of FRITZ!OS, both frequency bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) are utilized even more dynamically for optimal connection between the router and repeater.

VPN made easier with WireGuard

Setting up VPN connections, increasingly common for working from home or in small offices, is also easier thanks to FRITZ!OS 7.50's compatibility with the WireGuard VPN protocol. Using the new WireGuard Assistant, users can configure encrypted connections to their FRITZ!Box router from computers or mobile devices in no time, simply by scanning a QR code or following the software's on-screen instructions. The previous VPN protocol for the FRITZ!Box, IPSec, has also been updated by the AVM development team and now supports both IPv4 and IPv6 connections.

Call blocking and voice functions on the FRITZ!Fon

Users who use their FRITZ!Box router in combination with a FRITZ!Fon phone also benefit from new features in FRITZ!OS 7.50. Blocking unwanted calls is now easier, as the phonebook can be used as a "allowed numbers list." Calls from numbers not on the phonebook can be blocked or diverted to voicemail. Furthermore, thanks to the new "Voice" function, the FRITZ!Fon can now verbally announce incoming calls or provide reminders for appointments stored in the phone's linked address book.

New scenes and routines for the Smart Home

FRITZ!OS 7.50 expands the Smart Home features available to users with new scenes and routines. Scenes allow you to simultaneously trigger a series of actions in your home, while routines automatically initiate actions involving multiple devices linked by cause-and-effect rules. For example, by simply pressing a button before arriving home, smart radiator thermostats adjust to a comfortable temperature, lights turn on, and other connected devices are activated.

New FRITZ!Box menu and online help

Finally, FRITZ!OS 7.50 also revamps the user interface design of FRITZ!Box routers, making them even more user-friendly. The redesigned summary page provides quick access to the information you need, from Wi-Fi speed and connected devices to issues, parental controls, and more. Users also have access to new online help to answer any questions they may have about using FRITZ! products, including a helpful keyword search function.

“FRITZ!OS 7.50 gives users complete control over their home or small office network, as well as seamless integration between all devices in the FRITZ! family, from Wi-Fi repeaters to smart plugs and IP phones. Beyond all these great features, what truly sets AVM apart is that no other connectivity solutions provider invests so heavily in its device software, offering free updates every six months that are also available for older models. This reflects our company's commitment to consumers better than anything else,” says Ralf Muntean, Country Manager of AVM in Spain.
