In order to guarantee and protect the flow of information of the prestigious center, in 2015 the decision was made to build a new modular, efficient and scalable data center to cope with the progressive growth of the clinic.

Inserty, a company dedicated to the design, construction, and maintenance of data centers, was responsible for building the new data center for the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center. The project was carried out in collaboration with Schneider Electric, a multinational specialist in energy management and automation, of which Inserty is an Elite Partner.
Previously, climate control problems in the center's server room jeopardized service continuity. Faced with this situation, Inserty and Schneider Electric focused their efforts on creating a custom-built data center using the latest technology and guaranteeing maximum security and energy efficiency. The process was further complicated by the need to minimize disruption to the center's communications services.
Schneider Electric was responsible for providing all the implemented solutions: from communications cabinets and precision cooling systems to uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.

Schneider Electric equipment installed:
- 3 AR3100 racks
- 6 monitorable PDUs: AP8858EU3 (2G Rack PDU, Metered, ZeroU, 16A, 230V, (18) C13 & (2) C19, IEC309 Cord)
- 1 Direct Expansion InRow
- 1 Room monitoring system, including temperature and humidity sensors, smoke detector, flood sensor, and surveillance camera:
- NBRK0451 NetBotz Rack Monitor Series 400
- AP9335TH APC Temperature & Humidity Sensor
- NBES0307 NetBotz Smoke Sensor - 10 ft.
- NBPD0160 NetBotz Camera Pod 160
- 2 UPSs (15 kVA)
- 1 power transfer system to provide redundancy to servers with a single power input:
- Electrical panel

Inserty engineers studied the clinic's needs to determine the best location for the data center, the suitability of the room, and the implementation of the solution. Among the installed equipment are the room's lighting system, fire detection and suppression systems, access control, fiber optic links, and generators.

Benefits Achieved
This project addresses the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center's need to guarantee a continuous and highly efficient flow of information. “Thanks to the implemented solutions, these benefits are not only guaranteed, but a fully modular and scalable data center has also been built, allowing for progressive growth without significant investment to meet the clinic's future needs,” explains Francisco Garcia, manager of Inserty. “Furthermore, the data center monitoring system represents a further step in ensuring its security and optimal performance,” he concludes.
