Powered by a 2.2 GHz (up to 2.7 GHz) six-core Intel Xeon D-1531 processor, the RS18017xs+ delivers over 4,800 MB/s sequential read speeds and 568,000 sequential read IOPS when used with 6 x 10GbE link aggregation enabled. The 12-bay RS18017xs+ supports 3.5"/2.5" SAS/SATA drives in a 2U rack, features two 10GBase-T ports and four 1GbE ports, optional 10GbE NIC (Network Interface Card) support, and provides flexible storage scalability up to 96 drives with the new RX1217sas expansion unit or 180 drives with the RX2417sas.
The RS4017xs+ leverages its 2.1 GHz 8-core Intel Xeon D-1541 processor (boosting up to 2.7 GHz) to deliver extremely high performance, with sequential read speeds exceeding 4,900 MB/s and sequential read IOPS when used with 6 x 10GbE link aggregation enabled. It is Synology's first RackStation to feature a 3U chassis design, with 16 3.5-inch SATA drive bays for ample storage capacity. With the two Synology RX1217/RX1217RP expansion units connected, a total of 40 bays can be combined for flexible storage management.
The RS18017xs+ is equipped with 16GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM (scalable up to 128GB), and the RS4017xs+ with 8GB DDR4 ECC UDIMM (scalable up to 64GB), both ensuring data integrity when handling high-value data. Both RackStation servers support Synology High Availability and offer a range of redundancy mechanisms, including system fans and network ports with failover support. Redundant power supplies are also available on the RS18017xs+ and RS4017xs+ models to further maximize system uptime. Both devices provide comprehensive storage solutions for virtualization environments such as VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, and OpenStack.
The RS18017xs+ and RS4017xs+ run on DiskStation Manager (DSM), Synology's advanced and intuitive NAS operating system, which offers a wide range of applications to enhance workplace productivity.
