The new agreement will allow Vertiv to sell services with the Uptime Institute's TIER Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) certification along with TIER-Ready Modular Units, providing customers with the full benefits of this certification directly.
Using Vertiv PFM models certified as TIER-Ready guarantees customers that, once installed, these infrastructures can quickly and easily achieve the coveted TCCF certification. Vertiv TIER-Ready PFM solutions are already available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and we aim to expand the TIER-Ready program globally during 2020.
The TIER-Ready Partnership is a strategic agreement where specific Vertiv PFM design models are reviewed by the Uptime Institute during the design development process to ensure these solutions meet the stringent requirements of the globally recognized TIER Topology Standard. Vertiv TIER-Ready PFM products directly support the availability and uptime requirements of customers who have strategically chosen to deploy a TIER-certified digital infrastructure. As part of the partnership, Vertiv has undertaken the Uptime Institute's TIER-Ready III design review for its SmartMod™ PFM infrastructure for up to 10 racks and 80kW of IT load. Installations based on SmartMod TIER-Ready solutions can quickly and easily obtain the Uptime Institute's TCCF certification.
The use of PFM solutions is an agile and efficient way to configure the space where IT equipment is located in a new data center, as they require a much shorter installation process than traditional data centers. PFM installations are gaining significant traction, especially in developing economies, as a way to rapidly create new capacity, even at the edge, without the constraints of a traditional assembly process and with improved system integration, testing, and commissioning. According to industry analysts at 451 Research, the PFM data center market is projected to expand at a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.4% through 2021, reaching $4.4 billion.

TIER topology standard is the de facto industry standard for data center reliability and resilience, assuring customers that TIER-certified data centers will operate accurately and predictably across a wide range of operating conditions, including complete power outages. Uptime Institute introduced its TIER-Ready design review program to enable PFM vendors to deliver solutions that can achieve the same levels of reliability and resilience already attained in thousands of TIER-certified data centers worldwide. The TIER-Ready program streamlines the process of obtaining TIER-Certified Data Centers (TCCF) by reducing the design review time typically required for each specific data center installation. As a TIER-Ready PFM solution, the Vertiv SmartMod 80kW enables time and cost savings in installation review that can be passed on to the customer.
