Synology® Inc. has released Surveillance Station 8.2. This version features LiveCam, a new security camera app that turns a smartphone into an IP camera. The company just launched the iOS version, and the Android version will be available in October. The updated DS Cam offers improved performance, along with the addition of IP speakers to the hardware compatibility list. To complement the updated features, the next-generation app center provides greater flexibility for app management. Surveillance Station 8.2 includes the following features:
• Once LiveCam is installed on a mobile phone, it can be added to Surveillance Station as an IP camera, allowing recording while away from the location.
• The new add-on pack, called “Application Center,” provides up to 26 applications and utilities.
• The next generation of DS Cam offers an enhanced viewing experience with multi-timeline capabilities for intuitively searching video footage. Furthermore, with offline license authentication, the system can be deployed more quickly.
• Surveillance Station 8.2 can stream audio or scheduled broadcasts to integrated IP speakers. Individual or group broadcasting is also available in multi-speaker deployments.
• The Time Lapse feature shortens long videos to minutes or even seconds. This feature is especially useful for showcasing a large project from start to finish.
• Two-factor authentication restricts sensitive functions, such as managing cameras or accessing video recordings, to those authorized by a third party. This added protection prevents the leakage of sensitive information.
• Live streaming to YouTube requires no setup. Simply select the camera and add the provided route information to YouTube. Live streaming is then ready to go.
