Greater compatibility with platforms

APM 2.0 extends protection to Amazon EC2, Azure VM, Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV, and Google Workspace. Cross-platform recovery allows you to back up and restore workloads across different environments, facilitating both disaster recovery and seamless workload migration.

Backup destinations have also been expanded. ActiveProtect Vault now supports a wider range of Synology NAS devices, while Azure Blob Storage has been added to the list of supported destinations for backups and tiered storage. Backups stored in Amazon S3 Storage or Azure Blob Storage can be restored directly to Amazon EC2 or Azure VMs as part of a cloud disaster recovery (Cloud DR) strategy, without requiring on-premises hardware, significantly reducing recovery times.

AI-powered proactive resilience

ActiveProtect Manager 2.0 incorporates volume-level software storage encryption to protect data at rest. Backups and system configurations remain inaccessible in the event of drive theft or hardware loss.
The next update, APM 2.1, will introduce AI/ML anomaly detection. This feature will analyze each backup version to identify anomalous patterns, such as changes in the modification rate, file modifications, mass deletions, and variations in entropy. Suspicious backups will be quarantined for administrator investigation, thus limiting the risk of backup contamination. The model will learn from the results of these investigations to improve its accuracy and reduce false positives.

APM 2.1 will also scan backups for malware before restoring them using integrated third-party antivirus software, such as Microsoft Defender, Bitdefender, and ESET. If malware is detected in the most recent backup, Auto Fallback will automatically restore the latest clean version.
