The S300 was launched in November 2025 for large professional projects, and with this decision, Toshiba expands purchasing options while maintaining the same enterprise-level performance and reliability.
The S300 AI retail range targets professional video surveillance deployments, including systems integrators, IT distributors, and security installers implementing advanced video analytics solutions. By extending its availability beyond traditional video surveillance distribution channels, Toshiba makes it easier for customers to acquire replacement units or smaller quantities through established retail and online distribution channels, while continuing to use storage systems specifically designed for AI-powered video surveillance workloads.
The S300 AI is designed to handle the mixed sequential recording and random access workloads generated when AI software continuously analyzes recorded video. It combines capacities from 8 TB[1] to 24 TB with performance optimized for high-resolution recording and AI-powered video surveillance. The hard drive supports up to 64 camera streams[2], along with an additional 32 AI streams, making it suitable for demanding video surveillance installations in commercial and public sector environments, including transportation, manufacturing, smart cities, healthcare, finance, and logistics.
The drive also offers the durability required for mission-critical environments. With a rated annual workload of 550 TB[3], an MTTF of up to 2.5 million hours[4], multi-bay RAID support, and a five-year limited warranty, the S300 AI provides reliable, long-term storage.
According to Larry Martinez-Palomo, Vice President and Director of the Storage Products Division at Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH, “AI-based video surveillance is expanding significantly beyond traditional installations.” “With the introduction of the S300 AI in retail packaging,” Palomo adds, “professional customers can now easily purchase these units through their preferred channels while still benefiting from the trusted performance and reliability for which Toshiba’s video surveillance storage solutions are known.”
The Toshiba S300 AI in retail packaging will be available in late Q3/early Q4 2026.
