Microchip PIC32-Bluetooth-wThe new Microchip M320018 PIC32 Bluetooth Starter Kit offers everything needed to build a low-power Bluetooth project. The kit includes a dual-mode Bluetooth HCI module that supports Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0 BLE. It supports common Bluetooth profiles, including HS/HF, A2DP, AVRCP, OPP, DUN, and SPP. The starter kit is compatible with Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and can transmit at speeds up to 3 Mbps. A mini-B connector provides a USB interface to a host computer for programming and debugging. A separate USB mini-B connector can also be used for debugging the development board. The kit includes all schematics and a complete bill of materials (BOM).

Five onboard buttons can provide user-programmable application functions. A Microchip PIC24 microcontroller provides dedicated support for USB connectivity and onboard debugging. A single-chip, 3-axis accelerometer with a temperature sensor can be read by the PIC32 microcontroller, and the data is sent to a connected Bluetooth smartphone.

The starter kit includes demo code and examples to enable full-duplex SPP data transmission, allowing the kit to interface with many devices, such as Bluetooth-enabled smartphones and tablet PCs. The starter kit provides interfaces for full debugging and programming capabilities and can be powered via the USB port. Optionally, the starter kit board can be mated to an expansion daughterboard using a header interface connector. The kit comes pre-programmed with demo firmware for full-duplex Bluetooth SPP data transmission.
