This latest addition to MACOM's broad portfolio of controller solutions for optical infrastructure enables system designers to tackle higher-speed transmission applications with a lower-cost surface-mount technology.

MACOM pioneered surface-mount technology for high-speed optical communications with the introduction of the first surface-mount quad-channel controllers in 2013. To date, surface-mount packaging has been widely used in 100G and 200G systems operating at 32 Gbaud, while higher-rate systems have required more expensive "gold box" packages. The MAOM-003427's enhancements deliver equivalent performance in a surface-mount package, enabling lower costs and smaller form factor solutions.

The MAOM-003427 is distinguished by its high bandwidth, low power dissipation, and excellent linearity, supporting the implementation of higher-order modulation schemes at transmission speeds up to 46 Gbaud. This controller is pin-compatible with MACOM's existing 32 Gbaud surface-mount solutions (MAOM-003405 and MAOM-003407), providing designers with an easy upgrade path.

"I'm very proud to announce another MACOM first in the optical industry," said Ray Moroney, Director of High-Performance Analog Product Marketing at MACOM. "The MAOM-003427 demonstrates MACOM's commitment to meeting our customers' needs with truly innovative solutions."
