Manufacturers who make their products compatible with the AMB2621-TR Bluetooth Low Energy Module can fully control how the device is presented to the communication partner. This process begins with the device's appearance itself—its name and icon—which are displayed to the user in the list of available Bluetooth connections. The Device Information Service (DIS) also allows manufacturers to add a profile to obtain more information about the device over the radio, such as the manufacturer's name or serial number.
UUID settings
The AMB2621-TR 2.4 GHz BLE radio module, measuring just 11 x 8 x 1.8 mm, features something not typically found in the Bluetooth Low Energy standard: a serial port profile for emulating a serial cable connection. Data transfer is possible with this AMBER-SPP-like profile, which leverages the optional Bluetooth 4.2 "data length extension" function to increase data volume. Companies can adopt this BLE profile by assigning their own UUID, for example, to register the profile with the Bluetooth SIG. Würth Elektronik eiSos also assists customers in customizing their own firmware.
Users can now download firmware 3.4.0 for AMB2621-TR (item no. 2608011024000) for update via a simple wireless connection using a smartphone or latest generation mobile phone.
