Asco is a leader in the development, production, and processing of high-precision titanium and steel components for the aerospace industry. Faced with the loss of several mechanical supports and the need to respond quickly to customer requests, they decided to implement an RFID solution. However, the metal used in the parts to be identified, their constant exposure to blade lubricant, and molten metal splashes presented significant obstacles that had to be overcome for the project to succeed. Therefore, Asco didn't hesitate to turn to Zetes-RFIDea.

To ensure that RFID was indeed the most appropriate technology, Zetes-RFIDea conducted a detailed analysis of the environment and processes. They also tested various tags to determine which was the most durable.

According to Hervé Le Grand, Fixture Shop Support at Asco: “Zetes-RFIDea offered several important advantages. First, it had the potential to integrate various types of hardware, which meant we weren't tied to a specific vendor. Second, its offer included not only project analysis and implementation but also technical support and maintenance services. And finally, after comparing proposals from different vendors, it became clear that their analysis was the most relevant.”.

Regarding the software, Zetes-RFIDea developed three modules: one for object creation, one for maintenance, and one for audits, all three accessible from portable RFID terminals.
Fixed RFID readers, equipped with proximity sensors, were also installed at the entrances and exits of the buildings to easily locate assets at all times.

Audits: lists available in less than 24 hours
Asco now has real-time updates to its machining tool database, which means losses will be significantly reduced. Furthermore, the identification data for all tools is stored in a single, publicly accessible database. When an audit is required, lists can be easily retrieved in record time—in fact, they can be obtained in less than 24 hours—which has considerably improved Asco's customer relationships.
According to Alain Wirtz, CEO of Zetes: “This project clearly demonstrates how much organizations can gain from RFID. It’s a technology with enormous potential, but in-depth knowledge in this field is essential for successful implementation. In this respect, the acquisition of RIFDea has been very advantageous for Zetes. Although this additional expertise currently benefits primarily the Belgian and French markets, our 3iRFID center of excellence is working to expand it across the entire Group and enable every entity to benefit from its full range of experience.”.
