Based on the FSV, the FSVR offers the functions of a complete signal and spectrum analyzer, with a measurement speed five times faster than any other analyzer on the market. The FSVR is available in three models: up to 7 GHz, 13 GHz, and 30 GHz.
Compared to a conventional spectrum analyzer, which scans the entire input frequency range, a real-time spectrum analyzer measures the spectrum around a specific input frequency selected by the user. It detects the applied signal across the selected span and displays its spectrum. The device detects even extremely short and sporadic signals. It allows for quick and easy analysis of signal source behavior after a frequency change or the impact of digital switching.
In real time, the FSVR captures RF signals with a bandwidth of up to 40 MHz, computes up to 250,000 spectra per second, and graphically displays the results. It offers numerous display modes and measurement functions for both graphical and metrological analysis of the results.
In persistent mode, the FSVR provides a color-coded display of the probability distribution of frequencies and amplitudes occurring over a user-selected time (persistence period). This allows the user to gain insight into signal behavior over time. Rapid frequency hopping of a transmitter and significant short-term amplitude changes are visible. This type of signal behavior is difficult to detect with conventional analyzers.
The spectrogram function displays a spectrum in the time domain. Frequency band monitoring is useful for manufacturers trying to locate intermittent interference. Users also need this function for wireless transmissions that frequently exhibit frequency hopping. Typical examples include RFID and Bluetooth. The FSVR R&S enables the rapid mapping of these frequency hops and characterization of the transmitter.
The FSVR features a frequency trigger specifically designed for sporadic signals. This frequency mask trigger (FMT) responds to definable events in the spectrum. The FSVR analyzes each spectrum and compares it to a predefined mask. The impact of interference caused by RF transmitters or frequency changes can be quickly analyzed.
When not in real-time mode, the FSVR can be used as a signal and spectrum analyzer: it offers all the functions of the general-purpose FSV analyzer, plus many of its options for measuring RF parameters and analyzing digitally modulated signals. The FSVR also supports mobile telephony standards such as GSM/EDGE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, WLAN, WiMAX, and LTE. With over 1000 sweeps per second, the FSVR is five times faster than any other spectrum and signal analyzer.
