The true multiport architecture delivers best-in-class measurement speeds, up to 30 percent faster than competing offerings, while maintaining a high dynamic range. During large-scale manufacturing, test speed is critical, and space is often limited. With its true multiport capability of up to 24 ports, all receivers are synchronized to a common source to measure all S-parameters simultaneously. When measuring multiport devices, this configuration drastically reduces sweep time compared to a switching matrix-based solution. These capabilities streamline testing by improving both productivity and throughput while simultaneously reducing space requirements.

“A true multiport PXI VNA offers higher throughput with fewer sweeps than a VNA with a switching matrix for the same multiport device,” said Akira Nukiyama, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Component Testing Division in Kobe. “For example, with our 24-port PXIe VNA, a 24-port device requires only 24 sweeps compared to the 264 required with a 4-port VNA and switching matrix. This reduces sweep time by more than 10 times without any performance degradation.”.

The new PXIe M9485A multiport VNA offers industry-leading performance with fast speed (5 ms at 201 points with 2-port calibration) and wide dynamic range (up to 142 dB). The VNA also provides low trace noise (0.001 dBrms at 10 kHz IFBW) and high stability (0.005 dB/°C). Combined with the M9485's multi-site and multi-port measurement capabilities, this level of performance helps reduce testing costs.

Keysight's new multi-port PXIe VNA supports frequency offset mode, time-domain analysis, and calibrated measurements across all ports, based on the same measurement and calibration science as the renowned PNA/ENA network analyzers. By utilizing the PXI module concept, the VNA allows users to perform flexible upgrades and repairs as needed. Furthermore, users can save significant space compared to benchtop instruments with a comparable number of ports.
