The rapid expansion of the M2M and IoT applications market is increasing the need for wireless testing of terminals and communication modules. Most of these products support both mobile wireless systems, such as LTE and W-CDMA, as well as short-range 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth in a single unit, requiring a fast and comprehensive test setup capable of measuring multiple wireless systems.
The MT8870A Universal Wireless Test Set has been specifically designed for high-volume manufacturing testing of all cellular and short-range wireless technologies. A single MT8870A instrumentation unit can house up to four TRX MU887000A/01A test modules, each capable of independently controlling an external PC. Each module features an integrated Vector Signal Generator (VSG) and Vector Signal Analyzer (VSA) system for performing both transmitter and receiver RF testing.
WLAN 802.11p TX Measurement/Waveforms:
The new MX887032A/MV887032A software package supports 802.11p RF testing for the 700 MHz and 5.9 GHz bands used for on-road vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communications. When used in conjunction with the MT8870A PC application software, it supports RF testing of 802.11p-compliant chipsets, modules, and instrument equipment. It can also be used to set up a fully automated test environment with device chipset control.
The MT8870A is already compatible with the integrated wireless communication systems used by equipment, such as the current WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standard, as well as existing Bluetooth and GNSS, offering a low-cost testing solution for all wireless communication technologies in one system.
Bluetooth DLE TX Measurement / Waveforms
The new MX887040A-001 / MV887040A-001 software package supports wireless testing for the latest version 4.2 Bluetooth Core Specification 4.2, which extends the length of Bluetooth Low Power data from 37 octets to 255 octets to improve system performance by reducing data transmission overhead and accelerating communications between a host device, such as a smartphone, and a close-sensing device such as a wearable.
Z-Wave TX Measurement / Waveforms
The new MX887061A / MV887061A software package supports ITU-T G.9959 Z-Wave RF testing.
Z-Wave is a low-power wireless technology that uses the 900 MHz band and is geared towards the home automation market, such as home security and remote control of household appliances. It incorporates both Wi-Fi, which allows connection between a smart home router as a home automation hub, smartphones, and computers, as well as mobile communications such as LTE for connecting to public networks and the Internet.
