Advantech has unveiled its latest edge intelligence system – the EI-52. This compact, high-performance system leverages an 11th Gen Intel® Core i5/i3/Celeron™ processor and a plug-and-play system design. The EI-52 is designed for edge-to-cloud interconnection, as well as AI and 5G solutions. It comprises an integrated hardware and software package featuring Advantech’s EdgeX Foundry IoT open plug-and-play software framework and WISE-DeviceOn IoT edge intelligence software.The EI-52 enhances 5G and AI applications by supporting AIW 5G modules, Wi-Fi kits, VEGA AI acceleration modules, and the FaceView facial recognition I.App. Advantech's EI-52 accelerates the deployment of intelligent AIoT applications, the development of data acquisition applications, and remote device management.
Pre-installed Edge-to-Cloud Interconnectivity Capabilities Reduce Development Time.
The Advantech EI-52 features an integrated Edge-to-Cloud architecture that reduces development time. Using Edge X pre-installed on the EI-52 allows developers to easily connect edge devices to cloud services and reduces the development effort required for proprietary solutions. Edge X supports more than 15 types of protocols for sensing devices—including common OPC-UA, Modbus, and REST—and has been tested on more than 20 heterogeneous devices. It also provides an open device SDK to facilitate device integration using proprietary protocols. This intelligent system enables data preprocessing and analysis at the edge and comes with pre-configured tools for quick connection to Ali/AWS/Azure cloud applications. This solution also provides the software/hardware integration capabilities and microservices architecture needed to reduce development times by up to 50%, increasing the efficiency and flexibility of the import system applications.
The plug-and-play system design accelerates application deployment.
The Advantech EI-52 features an 11th Gen Intel® Core i5/i3/Celeron™ and is compatible with Windows 10 IoT or Ubuntu 20.04. It offers excellent expandability and high computing/graphics performance for use in environments with extended operating temperatures (-10 ~ 50 °C/14 ~ 122 °F). The EI-52 is also integrated with Advantech's WISE-DeviceOn. This software supports zero-touch onboarding, remote device monitoring/management, and user interface visualization. Combined with a plug-and-play design, these features help IT operators remotely monitor and manage the EI-52 in real time, thereby reducing deployment times for various applications.
Develop standalone edge solutions with powerful AI capabilities.
The Advantech EI-52 supports a selection of optional packages that enable fast-start AI, 5G, and AIoT applications. The EI-52 utilizes VEGA-330 AI acceleration modules with Intel® Movidius™ Myriad X 2x VPUs to power AI applications. This low-power module equips the EI-52 with additional AI inference computing power. It can be used, for example, for Advantech's FaceView facial recognition I.App, which enables contactless access control applications for home offices and smart buildings, as well as VIP management for self-service kiosks. For connectivity, the EI-52 technically supports an AIW-355 5G module with an optional thermal kit, but this requires RED certification. In addition, it offers additional wireless capabilities via the EWM-W189H02E Wi-Fi module with Wi-Fi 802.11ac/a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0.
