Its reticulated outer jacket offers high resistance to chemical agents, mechanical stress, and extreme temperatures. It can be supplied loose or pre-assembled with connectors for easier and faster installation.
“TE is working on designing and supplying products that will enable the future of transportation, and that includes offering the full range of high-speed, high-performance data cables for the rail industry,” says Paul Crofts, global cabling product manager at TE Connectivity. “Now that we have all three categories (Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat7) covered, and always compliant with EN45545-2, we can offer a range of data cables covering 120 ohms (Ω) up to 10 Gb/s. TE also supplies the corresponding M12 connectors, either as components alongside the cable or as finished assemblies.”.
The new Cat5e data cable features a quad-core design consisting of two pairs of 22-AWG cores. It is designed for an operating voltage of 300 V. The conductor's electrical resistance is less than or equal to 60 Ω/km, and the shield's resistance is up to 120 Ω/km. The insulation has a resistance of more than 500 MΩ/km (all at 20°C).
TE Connectivity (TE) has launched a new high-speed, quad-pair Category 5e (Cat5e) data cable for railway rolling stock and infrastructure. Thanks to its halogen-free, flame-retardant polymer insulation, the cable complies with EN45545-2, the new European standard for the fire performance of railway materials and components.
