High-performance 100 Gbps systems (with four 25 Gbps channels according to the IEEE 802.3bj standard) can be implemented using ERmet ZDHD connectors. In addition to the existing 6-pair version, ERNI now offers compact 4-pair male and female devices within its ERmet ZDHD connector range.
Along with higher data transmission speeds, telecommunications/data communications providers demand greater contact density with many differential signal contacts per inch. The ERmet ZDHD system meets these requirements by offering 14 rows of contacts per inch with six or four differential signal pairs per row. A total of 84 or 56 differential signal pairs per inch are available.
To achieve this high signal density, the pitch between rows has been reduced to just 1.8 mm, while the pitch between differential pairs within a row has been reduced to 3.6 mm. A prerequisite for this size reduction is a minimized push-fit technology, with 0.46 mm diameter holes. These miniaturized connection pathways enable optimized crosstalk performance. Robust alignment guides on the male connector's side faces ensure a reliable connection.
Engineering samples of the ERmet ZDHD 4-pair connectors are now available.
