The new CFast specifications are based on SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) and require a connector that combines Compact Flash (CF) and ATA Serial Transport (AST) to provide flexibility and speed in a wide and varied range of applications from enterprise to storage systems for portable devices.
ITT's new CFast device has been developed to meet the increased storage speed demands of high-end video cameras, digital cameras, personal computers, and medical and security equipment. Mounted on an integrated circuit, it allows for reflow soldering, stick soldering, or manual soldering and is robust enough to withstand 10,000 mating cycles. Custom ejection mechanisms are supported, providing significant OEM flexibility in product design. The new CFast connector complies with all CFA requirements and the European RoHS environmental directive.
