“Limited airflow and high crosstalk are becoming a recurring problem for many servers and computer systems,” says Joe Dambach, new product development manager at Molex, adding, “The iPass+ zHD riser connector solves these customer problems with a low-profile design that installs in one step and offers excellent signal integrity while maintaining a small footprint on the printed circuit board.”Molex iPass+ zHD connectors offer a robust and secure connection and can achieve data rates up to 96 Gbps (24 Gbps per 4-way). The new iPass+ zHD risers improve airflow in the system and reduce board space constraints by providing flexible design options with midplane connections. The wafer-based connector design optimizes PCB space utilization with low insertion and return losses, low interference noise, and minimal performance variation across all high-speed channels.
The press-fit iPass+ zHD riser nearly doubles the number of ports on the PCB compared to conventional iPass™ connectors. One-step installation saves time and reduces costs associated with wave soldering. These connectors are compatible with any active and passive miniSAS HD (Molex iPass+ HD) copper and optical cable assemblies. A positive locking mechanism ensures a firm connection on all cables.
