A significant advantage of this new connector is that it uses less board surface than other similar products, and in addition, both the solder and retention contacts do not protrude from the board surface occupied by the connector body, thus making the most of the available space.
To insert the cable, once stripped of insulation (4 to 5 mm), simply insert it into the contact hole, pushing until it stops. The connection is made using two plates: one makes the electrical contact, and the other acts as a retainer, pressing the cable in place to prevent it from coming loose. Solid cable is recommended, but the connector also accepts stranded cable. When using stranded cable, an insertion/extraction tool is recommended to lift the retainer while inserting the cable. This prevents the cable strands from fraying and catching on the terminal before it's fully inserted, thus ensuring a proper connection and potentially causing the cable to come loose. This precaution is not necessary when using solid cable, so no tool is required. In either case, the contact allows a maximum of 5 insertion/extraction cycles.

These connectors are pending UL certification and, as explained at the beginning, although they have been designed with the industrial and LED lighting markets in mind, they are actually applicable to countless products that need a quick wire-to-board connection.
