The launch adds to Harwin's existing Kontrol dual-row connectors, expanding the range with 49 new products, 21 SMT connectors and 28 dual-row cable assemblies, including 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 pin options.

The new SMT connectors in the series are available in vertical (male only) or horizontal (male and female) mounting, with a full housing and integrated recessed contacts to prevent pin damage.

To improve assembly, the connectors are polarized to prevent misalignment, and also feature a misalignment tolerance, with an allowable linear misalignment of up to 0.075 mm and an allowable misalignment angle of 4.3°.

The interlocking design allows for tool-free attachment and detachment, while surface mount tabs have been implemented to improve the retention force securing the connectors to the printed circuit board. Locator pins have also been incorporated to aid in correct board placement and inhibit movement during soldering.

Dual terminal connectors

The new Kontrol male and female double-ended cable assemblies include in-line connectors and UL-specified 26 AWG flat cable, with 150 mm and 300 mm options available.

As with SMT connectors, full shielding, interlocking, and polarization have been implemented to protect the contacts and improve secure, blind mating.

Technical specifications and availability:
The new single-row products meet the same electrical and reliability specifications as the current Kontrol range, with a rated current of 1.2 A per contact and a contact resistance of 25 mΩ. The connectors are approved for 500 mating operations, operate in a temperature range of 170°C (-55 to +125°C, board to board / -20 to 105°C, wire to board and wire to wire), and have been tested to withstand vibration forces of 20 G for up to 12 hours.

All connectors are available for tape and reel mounting for automated assembly processes, with disposable "pick-and-place" plugs included if required.
