EMI shielding and back covers have also been created for each connector. Single-pin right-angle female cable connectors and 90° male connectors have been added.
The high-reliability connectors have an 8.5 mm pitch with a 3.65 mm PC tail. They feature individually shielded recessed contacts, polarized connections to prevent incorrect mating, and gold-plated beryllium copper contacts for reliable, durable, and corrosion-resistant electrical connections, rated at 60 A per contact. The RoHS-compliant connector housings are made of high-performance thermoplastic PPS (polyphenylene sulfide), and all components have an operating temperature range of -65 to +150 °C.
The EMI shields are made of aluminum alloy, weigh between 6.8 and 9.4 g, and add only 2.2 mm to the connector height. The rear housing covers are also made of PPS and weigh between 0.50 and 1.05 g.
Ryan Smart, Harwin's Vice President of Product, stated: "The Kona range is one of our most advanced connector series and is used in extreme environments where failure is not an option. The addition of right-angle products will provide significant space savings for our customers, allowing us to expand our range of applications."
The Harwin Kona Horizontal range of angle connectors and accessories is now available, and evaluation samples can be ordered online.
