In addition to the secure IPsec encryption standard, Phoenix Contact's FL MGuard security routers now also support OpenVPN.

With this protocol as a client, the devices now support two secure encryption standards, whose distinguishing feature is their virtually identical level of security. This also enables simultaneous operation with both standards, such as Hub and Spoke, where data is passed from one VPN tunnel to the other.

Security routers connect to OpenVPN remote maintenance hubs. This transmission standard can be combined with all other security router technologies, such as OPC Inspector and CIFS Integrity Monitoring. OpenVPN is available starting with firmware 8.3 for FL MGuard devices.
