Thanks to this new functionality, automated installations can be controlled more effectively, allowing engineers to detect potential interruptions in their PROFIBUS network more quickly and respond effectively to these incidents.
“The technology presented enables new levels of reliability and process continuity on PROFIBUS networks in industries across all sectors,” explains Héctor García, Head of Industrial Communications at Logitek. He details that this component provides a solution for branch lines and star topologies in PROFIBUS DP networks.
The ProfiHub B5+RD is the first ProfiHub with a built-in PROFIBUS DP slave for transferring diagnostic data to a PLC. This network component is key for maintaining PROFIBUS DP systems, providing easy access to comprehensive diagnostic information on communication failures and details about various connection restoration attempts. Furthermore, the device generates a real-time list of all connected PROFIBUS components and allows for alarm configuration, so the affected team can be alerted the moment any disruptions occur in their facilities.
For enhanced performance, the ProfiHub B5+RD is equipped with five galvanically isolated transparent channels. Up to 31 devices can be connected to each channel, providing coverage for up to 1,200 meters. Each channel also features separate protection to prevent interference with other channels in the PROFIBUS network, resulting in one of the most secure industrial communication architectures on the market.
Plug-in hybrid starter controller
The new variants of Phoenix Contact's Contactron hybrid starter controllers allow for quick and easy integration into common fieldbus systems such as Profibus, Profinet, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
