The i6800 CPE not only offers backward compatibility (with any 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi certified device) but also includes the latest standard – 802.11ac. With the added 802.11ac solution, the i6800 is capable of delivering up to six times the bandwidth of similar products on the market.
The i6800 CPE is not tied to any proprietary back-end network system and allows other third-party access points to connect to the Icotera CPE – as vendor independence is a core aspect of Icotera products.
For network operators and service providers, this means there are no limitations whatsoever on the systems and products they can include in their network architecture – both before and after the fiber optic termination point.

The firmware update is completed quickly and without risk of failure, thanks to dual-bank firmware updates. Furthermore, there is no need for network operators to invest in expensive management systems (thus locking them into a single vendor); the i6800 is compatible with most existing management systems. The new Icotera FTTH gateway can be controlled via a variety of management protocols (e.g., SNMP, CLI via SSHv2 or Telnet, TR-069, and an easy-to-use web interface for the operator) or through a fail-safe, automatic provisioning mechanism that requires no Icotera intervention. In addition, the i6800 FTTH gateway retains the award-winning industrial design of the previous generation, including a unique slide-in design that simplifies gateway installation.

The Smart Home platform integrated into the gateway offers solutions for end users in alarms and surveillance, energy management and home automation, which is offered by the service provider or network operator, providing them with great opportunities for an additional revenue stream and greater customer loyalty.
