Telefónica has selected Nokia's Packet Core solution to improve the scale, capacity, performance, and reliability of its 4G and 5G network for enterprise customers in Spain, while simplifying its network architecture. Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced the signing of an exclusive OEM agreement for its EDA business to market Alphawave Semi's high-speed interconnect silicon IP portfolio through its sales channel. This includes Alphawave Semi's IP platforms for connectivity and memory protocols, such as Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, HBM, and UCIe (Die-to-Die) implementations.
This agreement will accelerate customer access to Alphawave Semi's advanced AI-powered silicon intellectual property platforms through Siemens' extensive global EDA sales force.

LightCounting has published the January 2025 edition of its "Optics for AI Clusters" report. Nokia has announced a four-year contract extension with Orange France to upgrade its 5G radio infrastructure with Nokia's energy-efficient AirScale product portfolio. ETSI has announced the creation of a new Industry Specification Group (ISG) focused on Multiple Access Techniques (MATs) for 6G mobile systems. The group aims to build industry consensus on innovative multiple access techniques based on the 3GPP specifications.
The ISG MAT will explore candidate techniques such as orthogonal multiple access (OMA), space division multiple access (SDMA), non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), and frequency division multiple access (RSMA) that improve transmission efficiency in parameters such as spectrum efficiency, power consumption, latency, and user fairness.

PATRIZIA has doubled its fiber optic footprint in Spain with the acquisition of Operadora Ibérica de Redes y Servicios SL (REDI), owner of a fiber-to-the-home network and operator of broadband and mobile services in eastern Spain. The investment, which includes an equity contribution and a planned capital expenditure (capex) program, marks PATRIZIA's third investment through its European Infrastructure Fund (EIF II) for its Localcom FTTH platform, which aims to bring high-speed broadband to the most remote areas of Spain.

Nokia announces that it has completed the sale of Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) to the French State, represented by the Agence des participations de l'Etat. The transaction was completed on December 31, 2024. Nokia retains a 20% stake with representation on the board of directors to ensure a smooth transition until the planned exit, at which time the French State is expected to acquire Nokia's remaining stake.
With the sale of ASN, a successful, non-core, standalone business, Nokia will be able to focus its Network Infrastructure portfolio on growth opportunities in its core markets. Together with the planned acquisition of Infinera—also announced in June 2024—this divestment demonstrates Nokia's active management of its business portfolio, one of the company's six strategic pillars.

The Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) has published its list of the leading operators in the fixed and mobile telephony markets in Spain. Grupo Aire enters the top five this year with a market share of 0.9%, alongside industry giants such as Telefónica, Orange, Vodafone, and Digi.
To determine the market share of the operators, the CNMC has considered the data corresponding to the overall year of 2023, using the criterion of the number of subscriber lines corresponding to fixed and mobile telephone services.
