The IFT models feature an ivory-colored jacket and a halogen-free, low-smoke, flame-retardant (LSZH) thermoplastic material suitable for vertical (riser) installation. And, by minimizing the amount of gel inside the cable, the problems associated with axial migration are eliminated.
To provide the necessary strength for each installation, the tension elements are embedded in the sheath. These consist of two FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) elements positioned 180° apart. The sheath itself absorbs the cable's tension, relieving the microcables of this stress, and provides stability when dealing with expansion and contraction caused by ambient temperature variations.
The flexibility and ease of peeling of the microtubes and their accessibility through bleed windows also contribute to meeting the needs of vertical distribution from floor to floor.
The IFT indoor range comprises the MicroTube I-FT06 (with a capacity of up to 24 optical fibers) and MicroTube I-FT12 (up to 48 fibers). Both variants are available with an outer diameter of 6.5 mm and 8 mm and up to four active tubes.
The I-FT06 microtubes allow 6 fibers per tube (6, 12, 18 and 24 fibers), while the I-FT12 have 12 fibers per tube (12, 24, 36 and 48 fibers).
Options include other fiber types available upon request and special color coding. Additionally, FT2 and FT4 modules (2 and 4 fibers per tube, respectively) are expected to arrive in the near future.
These fully dielectric cables, which also feature water-blocking fiberglass and rip cord, operate in the temperature range of -15 to +60 °C and comply with IEC 60794-1-21 and IEC 60794-1-22 standards.
