VGE1 ELIO and 838 ELIO allow the use of optical fibers for railway applications on board or on tracks, and are the only optical connectors on the market approved by the French national railway operator, SNCF, for on-board application.
The SOURIAU VGE1 ELIO bayonet connector is available in three different housing designs and sizes: four ELIO® contacts, eight ELIO® contacts, and twelve ELIO® contacts. A two-contact version will be released in due course. These connectors are robust enough to be installed on train roofs, under train bodies, or almost anywhere else on the exterior of trains.
The 838 ELIO® connector features a screw lock and an eight-contact design. A twenty-four-contact version, designed specifically for inter-vehicle connections, will be released in a few months.
Both the VGE1 ELIO and the 838 ELIO® can also be used for trackside applications. ELIO® is an innovative optical contact that combines ease of use with a high level of reliability.
