Motorola's new compact optical node MCN100

Motorola, Inc.'s Mobile and Home Devices business today announced the availability of the new MCN100 compact optical node.
The Motorola MCN100 offers an affordable solution, extending fiber optics to cable operators' networks through installations in pedestals and street-level cabinets, where form factor and speed of installation are key considerations. Together with Motorola's OmniStar GX2 Broadband Transmission Platform, the MCN100 creates a powerful offering of proven optical node and headend solutions that bring scalability and affordability to cable operators' fiber network deployments.

The MCN100 includes power input from the grid or national supply lines for outdoor or in-building deployments; two high-level RF outputs and a third output that can be split—saving crucial space in cabinets and pedestals—and offers comprehensive monitoring and management options.

The MCN100 is part of Motorola's fiber solutions suite, working in conjunction with Motorola's OmniStar GX2 Broadband Transmission Optical Platform. The GX2 high-density path return receiver provides a high-density, low-cost solution for these paths – with up to 64 independent return paths in a four-rack unit – helping operators achieve significant savings in both space and operating expenses. Meanwhile, the GX2 transmitters include a full range of 1550nm and 1310nm solutions, delivering the right performance at the lowest cost for fiber links with a minimal number of RF amplifier cascades.
