Although SDH-OTN networks are not comparable to WDM networks in terms of capacity, latency, or management complexity, they can be an optimal solution that guarantees minimal investment for operators.
To meet the demands of these operators, Fibernet provides specific solutions for transparently transporting services within OTN technology (carrier-based service transport).
The transported services, which range from Ethernet protocols – FE, GE –, Fibre Channel – 1G, 2G, 4G – , ESCON, FICON or Video – SD SDI, HD SDI, DVB ASI –, are encapsulated in an STM-16 / OTU-1 or STM-64 / OTU-2 frame and delivered to the SDH node – OTN, thus maximizing the optimization of the initial investment made by the operators.
FB-MUX platform
offered by Fibernet provides the ability to transmit various low- and medium-capacity signals over a single optical carrier thanks to Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology and OTN encapsulation.
The FB-MUX product family allows for installation in 21-inch racks and includes a range of cards that accommodate a variable number of ports, giving the system versatility in terms of the density of services carried and supporting different low- and medium-capacity protocols.
Following the design policy of the C/DWDM multiplexer equipment previously developed by Fibernet, the FB-MUX platform also offers the possibility of providing security and optical redundancy to the deployed infrastructures.
