Specifically, Indra will strengthen its transport safety solutions offering, MovaProtect, with the Begicrossing and Begirail products, state-of-the-art solutions that improve the safety of vulnerable points on the railway line, such as level crossings and sections of track with special risk, through the use of artificial intelligence and computer vision.
Begicrossing allows for complete monitoring of what is happening at the level crossing, not only with the elements that make up the protection system (barriers, lights, and audible alarms), but also with external elements such as vehicles, people, objects, or animals. The solution alerts you when a risky situation arises that could pose a safety problem and provides visual evidence and statistical data on both problems and malfunctions at the level crossings.
As for Begirail, the solution analyzes in real time the content of video cameras monitoring high-risk sections of track, such as tunnel entrances and exits, cuttings, embankments, overpasses, and flood-prone areas. In these areas, incidents such as rockfalls, landslides, vehicle incursions, and river flooding frequently occur, which can lead to serious accidents and are usually not detected until the train arrives and the driver notices. The system allows for the autonomous monitoring and identification of any situation that could endanger rail traffic, generating an alarm that is sent to the train via the signaling system and/or the control center operators.
Following the agreement, Indra will market Begicrossing and Begirail together with its advanced solutions designed to ensure the highest safety for travelers and maximum protection of the business of transport clients and their assets, which are grouped under Indra MovaProtect: safety systems, video surveillance, enforcement, driving simulators, vehicle-mounted systems or cybersecurity, increasingly necessary in the new digital environment.
MovaProtect is part of Indra MovaSolutions, Indra's offering of end-to-end technology solutions for transportation and smart mobility, covering the entire lifecycle of transportation projects. It is based on combining the new digital capabilities, integration, specialization, and innovation demanded by the market with Indra's reliability, business acumen, proprietary transportation technology, and the unique experience of its team of professionals.
Indra participates in the IP2 program, focused on the development of advanced rail traffic management and control systems; in IP4, dedicated to the development of new ICT solutions and services that improve the passenger experience and the attractiveness of rail travel by working in areas such as interoperability, ticketing, new payment methods and information systems; and in IP5, whose objective is to move towards a more efficient, sustainable and competitive freight transport.
Furthermore, within the framework of the European projects SCOTT and ENACT, Indra develops and tests new solutions aimed at improving the safety, efficiency, interoperability and service of rail transport, within the framework of a new generation of intelligent, safe and reliable Internet of Things (IoT) systems.
