Formed by organizations with extensive experience and knowledge in the world of telecommunications, the ISG F5G (Industry Specification Group for Fixed Five Generation) will work to define the specifications of a regulation that guarantees a common protocol for everyone in the development of the new generation of fixed network.

The recent Covid-19 pandemic has further highlighted the need for a truly improved, reliable, and guaranteed connection. “We are entering a new and exciting era of communications, and fixed networks play an essential role in this evolution, alongside and in cooperation with mobile networks,” commented Group Chairman Luca Pesando.
This working group on the fifth generation of fixed networks has three main objectives: full fiber access and connectivity (FCC), enhanced fixed broadband (eFBB) capable of expanding to reach the maximum number of locations, and a guaranteed reliable experience (GRE) for the end user. The slogan has thus shifted from "Fiber to the home" to "Fiber to Everything Everywhere."
To achieve this, it is necessary to have a broad vision of the different market participants, which is why Luca Pesando supported the idea of “inviting the main players in the sector to join this ETSI, ISG F5G initiative and contribute by promoting the improvement of people's lives and society that fiber technology can offer in this new era.”
