The great earthquake in eastern Japan and the floods in Thailand last year had a major impact on the daily operations of many companies. In addition to natural disasters, preparing organizations to ensure business continuity in the face of cyberattacks, earthquakes, terrorism, and infectious diseases, among many other challenges, has become a significant issue in business management. Therefore, these solutions are now of particular interest, although certifications began in 2007 in the United Kingdom with its BS 25999 standard management system, which Fujitsu also achieved for the first time in Japan.

Building on the experience Fujitsu gained in 1995 following the Great Hanshin/Awaji earthquake, the multinational designed a system for implementing maintenance services that continuously provided high-quality services for restoring ICT systems. Throughout this time, Fujitsu has continued to implement various disaster preparedness measures, participating in ongoing training and improvement programs. Furthermore, on Disaster Preparedness Day, observed annually on September 1st in Japan, Fujitsu conducts large-scale recovery training exercises for client systems, simulating real-life disaster scenarios.
