JT, the leading communications provider for the UK-dependent Channel Islands, has selected Telcordia's PlanoProvision for Fixed Broadband solution to support the replacement of its existing copper network with a new fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure design.

The FTTH project, known as "Gigabit Jersey," will bring the island's 90,000 residents access to the fastest broadband speeds available in 2016, from their homes or businesses.

Telcordia's OSS solution, featuring Telcordia® Network Engineer, will provide JT with a map-based tool to accelerate and streamline its FTTH planning, design, documentation, and inventory management. The dramatic optimization of network planning processes, along with the elimination of its manual system, will allow the company to reduce the time and cost of its fiber-to-the-home program and enable better tracking of the FTTH architectures needed to accommodate variations in installation density.

JT will also utilize Telcordia's Total Perspective Planning business analytics solution, which will enable JT decision-makers to correlate all their geographically relevant information through interactive maps, charts, and reports. Using these tools will help JT identify crucial, and even hidden, relationships, patterns, and trends, which can contribute to improved network performance, accelerated service deployment, and faster restoration.
