The integration of APC InfraStruxure products into the container builds upon the global alliance between APC and IBM announced in 2006 when APC was selected as the supplier for IBM's scalable modular data centers and, subsequently, with the selection of APC solutions for the IBM High Density Zone (HDZ), which enables customers to quickly develop a high-density environment in the existing data center.

“APC’s presence in IBM’s modular data center offering demonstrates the adaptability of our solutions to meet the needs of clients across diverse business applications,” says Enric Costa, Vice President of APC by Schneider Electric for the Mediterranean region. “The physical infrastructure design of APC’s data centers is a perfect fit for IBM’s PMDC solution, focusing on maximizing efficiency through a modular and scalable approach. The pre-design and pre-testing we conduct for our products ensure the reliability and availability of the PMDC solution.”
“IBM’s collaboration with leading providers like APC provides clients with an efficient and cost-effective solution to support IT growth in a more flexible environment,” says Steven Sams, Vice President of Global Site and Facilities Services at IBM. “The inclusion of APC is the result of our long-standing relationship with the company. Our agreements provide clients with best-in-class technology and IBM’s best-in-class services,” he adds.
APC supplies the physical infrastructure components for other IBM modular data centers, including the SMDC. The solution, available worldwide, incorporates APC's technology for power, cooling, racks, and enterprise management software, helping customers deploy a cost-effective, scalable data center—ranging from 45 to 230 square meters—with high levels of energy efficiency to support their business operations. The agreement enables customers to rapidly design and build a data center using IBM Global Services options and a standardized data center architecture, reducing upfront capital and operating costs.
